Grading Policies:
Students will be graded on a point system. Final grades will be determined by the total earned points divided by the total possible points.
Official grades can be found on Genesis. A “missing” on Genesis will appear if the assignment was not submitted but has been graded. The “missing” will be replaced with the grade after the assignment has been submitted and graded, not when the student submits the assignment.
All written work is assigned with the rubric used to grade the assignment. Read all expectations carefully and refer to the rubric throughout the writing process.
Late Work:
It is important for 8th graders to practice time management and be responsible young adults. All work will be accepted late with the following expectations:
-
If an assignment is missing, it is the student’s responsibility to hand in the assignment before the end of the marking period. I will not track down students for missing work.
-
Late work MUST be communicated with me. Google Classroom submissions will lock after the due date. Students must email me the completed assignment or turn in a physical copy.
-
Late work will be graded normally. One point will be deducted from their score for everyday it is late.
Absences/ Make-Up Work:
It is the student’s responsibility to make up assignments that were missed due to an absence, field trip, etc. All assignments will be on Google Classroom. You may see me during Academic Support or after school with questions about the lesson you missed.
Students must check Google Classroom for all missed work before emailing/ asking about what they missed. Students should only reach out with specific questions about the lesson or assignment. Emails asking what you missed will be directed to Google Classroom.
If you are absent on a due date, you are expected to turn in the assignment no later than the date of your return.
Turning in Assignments:
Digital Assignments must be submitted through Google Classroom on the correct assignment by the due date. Please make sure to click “Turn in.” Failure to click “turn in” will result in a “Missing” and not be graded.
Handwritten assignments should be turned into your class bin. Handwritten assignments MUST be legible. If I cannot read your work, you will be asked to redo it.
