Ms. Alberta

Dear Reynolds Community,

My name is Ms. Alex Alberta and this is my third year teaching at Reynolds! I have adored music all my life and I am so excited to share that love with the community. I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park (Go Terps!), where I received my Bachelor of Music Education in vocal and general music. I was lucky to get to experience student teaching in an elementary school as well as a high school, where I learned so many skills that are applicable for any grade level. In my time at UMD, I was involved in opera, musical theater, choir, a cappella, and dance programs, which deepened my love and understanding of the arts and arts communities which I bring to my own teaching. I even had the opportunity to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall with my choir! I am trained in many different music education methodologies, such as Kodaly, Orff-Schulwerk, Music Learning Theory, and Dalcroze, which each offer a unique and exciting approach to performing arts, and I look forward to exploring a diverse curriculum in class.

I love to travel, my favorite books are the Harry Potter series (Prisoner of Azkaban being my #1), and my favorite hobby is yoga and meditation. Some of my favorite musical artists are Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Coldplay, Sabrina Carpenter, and Tame Impala, and my all-time favorite TV show is The Office. A fun fact about me is that I learned to play the trumpet in school before ever learning to sing! I was even in a jazz band :) At the bottom of this page, you can take a listen to some of my favorite songs.

Here is a picture of me and my puppy, Stevie Nicks! She is the best.

I am so excited to get to know all of you this year! Please feel free to send me an email with some fun facts about yourself!

Musically,

Ms. Alberta
