    Our Units of study for the month are: 

    Reading and Writing-Non fiction/passion project-NOTE: we will be wrapping up these units at the beginning of the month. We will be moving on to Social Issues and Debate/Persuasive Essay 

     

    Social Studies- “We the People”

    During this unit, students will learn…

    • The United States government derives its power from the people they represent.

    • The Constitution is a “living document” that has evolved over time.

    • All citizens have the power to contribute to the well-being of their community and country.

    • The past directly impacts the present (and future).

    • The Constitution is a document that establishes the vision for the way the United States is governed.

     

    Math-Unit 5- In this unit, students explore the whole in fractions as well as adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. Students use these computation skills to answer questions about line plots. They are also introduced to adding tenths and hundredths. Students build on their knowledge of rays to explore unit iteration for angles. 

    **Additionally, all students have taken the unit 4 cumulative assessment. Based on these results targeted instruction will occur in the classroom so students can master any “forgotten” skills/concepts from the beginning of the year.
