Our Science program focuses on interactive science instruction that promotes analysis and interpretation of data, critical thinking, problem solving, and connections across science disciplines. During the K-2 experience, children will begin to form connections between concepts and skills such as understanding relationships between objects, planning and carrying out investigations, and constructing explanations. In first grade, students are expected to develop understanding of the relationship between sound and vibrating materials as well as between the availability of light and ability to see objects. Students are also expected to develop understanding of how plants and animals use their external parts to help them survive, grow, and meet their needs. In addition, students observe, describe, and predict some patterns of the movement of objects in the sky.
