• Instrumentalists may receive unique homework that is customized to each child.  Each week there will be a selection in the method book assigned for home practice. Once we begin rehearsing for the winter or spring concert, selections from our concert music will also be assigned for home practice.  Our goal in fourth and fifth grade is to develop good practice habits. As beginners, correct muscle development, good posture, and comfortability with a new instrument will only happen with consistent and intentional practice.

I suggest a goal of 20 minutes each day, with one day off during the week for a total of 120 minutes.

Students are responsible for writing down assignments in their practice charts and placing them inside their folder for parents to sign off on.  Kids enrolled in band and orchestra receive a grade where practice minutes are taken into consideration.  Instrumental students can earn rewards in class and be recognized for outstanding efforts. So parents, please sign off on your child's practice chart and help your children get the most out of their experience with music!
