    Reading in Our Classroom
    Reading is an active engagement with a text. It requires the reader to combine many skills to, ultimately, gain meaning from the printed words. Reading in our classroom will be real and authentic. We will use a variety of titles, some picture books, others chapter books, to isolate those reading skills that can get in the way of true understanding. Some of the reading skills we will tackle this year include:
