• Section 504 is a federal law that originates from the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and currently part of the Americans with Disabilities Act (2009). In order to be considered for 504 eligibility, a student must: 1) have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, 2) have a record of such an impairment, 3) or be regarded as having such an impairment. If eligible, a child can receive a 504 plan, which would provide reasonable accommodations within the school setting. If you think your child may need a 504 plan, please contact the school counselor.
